If you ever wonder what you can do to make your flat or office more secure – effectively and without spending a lot – most experts will recommend that you first check whether your door cylinders are technically up to date. Many buildings in Berlin, especially older ones, are still fitted with door cylinders that are many years old. Yet a modern door cylinder can increase security considerably.
A very robust door cylinder is the XP2S model from the brand manufacturer ABUS, which has stood out for many years with high-quality security products. Among the various ABUS door cylinder models, the XP2S is one of the sturdiest. Its innovative pin-in-pin technology in particular offers the highest resistance to blows and force from outside. In addition, the ABUS XP2S has hardened steel pins that prevent it from being drilled open. The XP2S therefore gives burglars hardly any point of attack for forcing their way into the building. The key is well protected, too: it can be issued with a security card, and copies can then only be made if the security card is presented to an authorised specialist dealer. Furthermore, the ABUS XP2S door cylinder has an emergency function, meaning the lock can still be opened or locked from either side even if a key is inserted on the other side. The XP2S locking system is equally suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Typically, front doors, flat doors or cellar doors are fitted with these cylinders – but of course all internal doors can be as well. Like most other ABUS door cylinder systems, the ABUS XP2S is also available in a keyed-alike version. This means you can fit different doors and locks with cylinders from the XP2S system and conveniently open all of them with a single key. You can also use this keyed-alike option for additional locks or security bars and do without a confusing bunch of keys.
